The recognition of the archaeological site of Eira Velha came to emphasize the importance of Miranda do Corvo in the roman road network. The archaeological excavation validated the presence of a road intersection that suggests its classification as a roman road station. These devices, strategically implanted in the roads, proved to be excellent elements during the “romanization” process in the rural areas. A spatial analysis using the algorithms of the Geographic Information System (SIG) has confirmed the possibility of this site had worked specifically with road functions. Therefore, we will present throughout this analysis a set of reflections about de positioning of this site in the roman road network.
